Positive identification test for Molybdenum AISI 316 vs. 304. A two step electrochemical test using two solutions and a (supplied) battery.

3-4 drops of Reagent "1" is added to a (supplied) test paper which is then placed on the (abraded) surface in any desired position: flat, vertical or overhead.

Apply one probe from the battery at the center of the wet paper and the other at the side for 5 sec.
Add two drops of Reagent "2"
Add 2 – 3 drops of Reagent "1"

A pink halo develops around the center spot if 316
White halo around the center spot if 304
